Emotional Benefit Concert

On August 18th, the Blue Butterfly House held a benefit concert to raise money, awareness and to honor David Heisler.

The concert was magical in many ways and was reported on as such, but we wanted to be sure to share the images of all the fun we had! Thanks so Sarah Jackman Photography, we were able to capture some behind the scenes smiles.

At the opening there was a tribute video to David Heisler to honor him on this particular day. It was exactly one year to the day that David's body was recovered in the Arizona Desert. His body was found by a BLM Geologist after a 7.5 week exhaustive search.

After the tribute video, a single dancer came out to dance to "Rise Up" by Andra Day and performed by Maddie Pemberton.

Right after that, Mariah Heisler came out and performed a special dance for her Daddy, David Heisler. She danced it with Tearony Martin. Their dance to Butterfly Kisses was captured by Nick Adams Photography.

Her dance was emotional, especially for her Grandparents (David's mother and father) that were in the audience. Here are some more images that Nick Adams caught that evening.

Then there was Sauny J. Great vocals were heard. A nice Reggae twist on some of our favorite cover songs.

Our Emcee Bruce Bennett and Executive Director to the Blue Butterfly House, Suzun Abbott, shared incredible insights and statistics. Suzun shared her story and the way that Blue Butterfly House was born. Also some of our wonderful prizes were given away, such as the Wake-board by American Gear Company and $250 Gift Certificate to JK Jewelers.

The talent kept coming! Ami Kawailani Zufelt-Gent of Wish Entertainment shared her beautiful voice in her dedication to Suzun's daughter, Kristina Lewis, in the moving song, "The Climb".

Then she dedicated her next song to Mariah Heisler, "Fight Song". Her performance was heartfelt and emotional.

Then the "Circle of Life" Dance performance by the No Limit Dance Studio Dancers joined by the Mariah's Army Crew. It was a magical mix between the experienced dancers and the Mariah's Army Kids. They have practiced with the dancers for the previous 8 weeks. The kids were awesome and they enjoyed every second of the experience.

Lastly but not least, Soul What, a local band came out and WOWED the audience with their renditions of some older cover songs. The band was engaging, talented and the vocals were on point!

For the finale of the evening, they brought in an 8 person choir and Christian Warmsley of Sauny J joined them on stage for a beautiful rendition of "Miracle" It was an amazing way to end the evening.

The evening was full of entertainment. Half way through a video aired to share with the audience what the Blue Butterfly House was all about. The Blue Butterfly House needs to exist and it needs to provide this much needed service for the Washington County Community.

The evening was the perfect launch of an incredible organization. Our mission has only just begun. Follow us on facebook or here on our blog to keep up with our progress.
